  1. Why is camping the same cost as for people staying in the house?

Limited camping facilities exist for those people who don't want to stay in the house for whatever reason. You are still fed three yummy meals a day and have access to all the same facilities that those in the House enjoy.

  2. There's so much information here that I don't have time to read it all! Can you help?

Yes! There's an info pack with all the important information from the pages about the course. You can print it or save it on your computer to read at your leisure! It includes an application form, should you wish to apply for a place.

  3. The course is just too expensive! Are there any discounts available?

We base our prices on the actual cost and do not aim to make a profit. We realise that the cost is fairly high, however, we do feel that it is competitive compared to similar courses and, including accommodation, this is a really good deal. As you've probably read on the Prices page, this includes pretty much everything.

You may pay in installments, so long as you pay an initial deposit when applying, and you complete your payment by the deadline.

Children and Students: We occasionally have discounts available. See the Prices page for details.

  4. I read that the course members take part in performances on at least one occasion, but I do not feel that I could do this. Will I be obliged to get up on stage?

No, you would not have to take part if you really didn't want to - but please warn Stephen in advance as it can affect how things are organised.

There are indeed several events where members on the course have the opportunity to perform. These events are very informal (taking place in tuition rooms) and I would strongly encourage you to have a go at performing. It's just for fun really! The course provides a fantastic way of getting used to performing in "public", but in a very understanding and supportive environment. Some of the best applause goes to people whose performances go wrong! And don't forget that the tutors get nervous too!

  5. I am worried that everyone else will be better than me and I will get left behind!

On every course there are many people from different backgrounds and with different levels of ability. Tutors are aware of this and will ensure that the material covered is suitable. As long as you meet the entry requirements and you prepare for the course, you should be fine. Make sure that you tell your tutor if you are having difficulty, so that they can go over the problem either individually or within the class, whichever is appropriate. Quite often, others will be having similar problems!

  6. I do not wish to share accommodation with strangers in the House. However, travelling to the course every day is just too far. Is there any other way?

There is at least one Bed and Breakfast place in Burwell Village, and as such it is within walking distance. However, I would not encourage staying there unless you are certain that you don't want to live in the House: Just staying off-site will reduce your participation in the course, and you may find it inconvenient. But that's just my point of view.

Camping is also available - there is suitable ground within 30 seconds walk of the House. The price is the same as staying in the House, as all meals are provided, and facilities are shared with House residents.

  7. I'm interested in the course but I can't make it this year (possibly because the course is full up). What can I do?

Join our mailing list - this will ensure you are given the dates for next year as soon as possible. You can do this by filling in the form on the Contact Us page. See the info about it first. If you are unable to attend because the course is full, please also use the form to tell us this - especially if you would like to be placed on the waiting list.

Also see the other methods of getting into contact with other people on the course.
