Burwell House
The course takes place in the ideal country setting of Burwell House. The staff are fantastic - every year they provide excellent home cooked food and lodgings as well as the tuition rooms and bar, all under one roof! The small size guarantees a friendly atmosphere among course members.
Venue
The 18th Century manor house sits in three acres of walled gardens and has been extensively refurbished.
Workshops and sessions will take place in the ground floor lounge, Fen room, Studio and Craft Room.
Accommodation
The House provides full board and accommodation for residential course members.
There are 11 dormitories of various sizes, on the
1st and 2nd floors. When booking, please let us know if you would like to share with someone in particular (of the same gender).
Those who do not wish to stay at the house can be non-residential course members. Lunch and tea/coffee will be provided. Evening meals can be purchased, should you wish to stay on!
Camping
It is possible to camp in the grounds of the house, if the house becomes full or if you would prefer this. The cost is the same as being a resident. This is because all meals are included and facilities are shared with residents.
The Bar
There is a small but well supplied bar in the House with real ale! It includes a piano - ideal for sessions. Remember, if you're resident in the House, you won't have to drive home!
Location
Burwell House is situated in the busy thriving village of Burwell,
situated 10 miles from Cambridge and five from Newmarket. The immediate
locality plays host to a wealth of history, and there are also several
pubs, should you wish to escape the bar! Don't forget that the Cambridge Folk Festival is often the weekend before the Burwell Bash!
