Sam Pirt - Piano Accordion

Sam has been our hugely popular Accordian tutor since 2003. As well as teaching accordion Sam ensures there is never a dull moment.

A founder member of the award-winning band 422, Sam scooped top honours at the BBC Young Folk Awards in 1999. He then went on to showcase with 422 on the main stage at Cambridge Folk Festival and to perform at the prestigious Tonder festival in Denmark.

Sam continues to tour with 422. More recently Sam been recording and touring with his newest project The Hut People provding British, Nordic and European folk with world music influenced percussion.

Sam has a wealth of experience tutoring with regular appearances at Folk Works Summer School, The Cambridge Folk Festival, Accordians at Witney and many festivals accross the UK.

Sam teaches a range of tunes from his vast repertoire of melodies and styles. Sam is particularly revered for the use of his left (chord) hand on this instrument.
